Jesus: The Believer’s Inheritance

It is fascinating to observe when people talk about inheritance, ones mind would immediately cater properties, wills, houses, jewelries, and other material things. All of which are centered on material temporal things.   In 1 Peter 1:4 , although The Apostle Peter used the term “inheritance” once in his letter, Apostle Paul on the other hand, mentioned this term in his letters several times. ( Eph_1:14 , Eph_1:18 , Eph_5:5 , Col_3:24 ,) But what is so significant about this particular emphasis of Peter? After all, he made a brief description of the inheritance (verse 4-5) a believer will obtain now that he is part of God’s family.   The term “inheritance” is not something new among Jewish ears. Going back to the OT, when God divided the promised land among the 12 tribes of Israel, every tribe received a portion of the land as their inheritance, except for the tribe of Levi…”the priestly tribe”. They were the only tribe that didn’t get one. God’s reason for doing so is interesting. Th

"The Uniqueness & Power of the Bible" - Northside Harvest Worship #3

Kimyal New Testament launch in Indonesia from United Bible Societies on Vimeo.

My family and I, together with my wife’s parents, were encouraged today to have repeat attendees, save for one visitor.  In sum, we were 12 in number.  The family who has come since the first Sunday were recently saved in our Bible Study sessions in their home; and, our hearts do rejoice in the Lord! Please pray for their continued growth and discipleship and for the other repeat visitors — that we may be given the opportunity to lead them to and/or disciple them in the Lord.  We have been asking our heavenly Father for a core group of believers; and so, the repeat attendees today were a tremendous encouragement.

The message today was on Psalm 19 and 2 Timothy 3:16-17.  As an introduction to our “Through the Bible” series, we surveyed the unique characteristics of the Bible and its power. We also had the opportunity to see the presentation of the New Testament to an Indonesian people group which made evident the tremendous blessing we have to be able to have the Word of God in our language and to have it so readily available to us in the United States.  How sad it is, therefore, when we take for granted our access to the Bible and leave it untouched, unread . . .

We encourage each one today to just ponder upon God’s gift to us– His Word. May we read it, study it, know and obey it. There is no greater pursuit than knowing God personally and in doing His will; and God has graciously revealed Himself to us in the Holy Scriptures.

Brethren, do continue to pray for this new church planting ministry. The Lord bless you.
